Re: Regionalized pricing (premium is too expensive for some peop

Hello Tibiantis Team,

As you know, we have many brazilians playing this game (not as many as europeans or polish but still theres lots of BRs), like myself.
I got really interested in this game, and thought on buying premium account, only to find out it is extremeluy expensive for us, because there is no regionalized pricing. Let me show you:

According to website, 1x premium is 9.5 Euro or 43 PLN.
Minimal wage in Poland is 3.600 PLN (about 806 euro), so this means premium cost for polish people is about 1,2% of their minimal wage.

Brazil's minimal wage is 1.320 Reais (about 250 euro), so this means for BRs, premium costs 3,8% of the minimal wage. So premium is 3x more expensive for us than for PLs.

I have some friends that started playing here but they refrained from buying premium because it felt too expensive. I am sure if it was closer to the 1,2% range like Polish price, they would surely have bought it. This means with this price you are losing sales from BRs.

Regionalized Price is a VERY COMMON pricing strategy among all type of business, I am not suggesting anything extraordinary here, but a mere conventional method of pricing so people can afford it and you'll end up selling more premium accounts.

I don't understand how this is related to the thread in question. Seems like gratuitous flaming for the sake of it. Be civil.

About the issue being discussed, regionalized pricing seems to be to be a valid strategy to for-profit corporations that sells games or provide gaming services in more than one country or geographical location.

I don't have access to their balance sheets and their corporate strategy so I'm in no place to say whether they should or shouldn't adopt this suggestion and if they choose to do so, what would be the optimal price which would maximize their profit at each of their markets.

You guys are making an effort at being toxic. The minimal wage is just an example to serve as a metric of the country purchasing power. It just means we have to work much more to pay for a premium than you. You don't have a minimum wage but your country citizens has a way higher purchasing power so you have to work much less to buy premium.
This regional pricing strategy is very common among major games company, they all do that because they are smart, its good for the company profit and for the players

We are not crying that Sweden is richer country than Poland and we should have also lower prices for pigs, that’s ridiculous…

Nowdays pigs for in-game cash are really cheap, costs 25k.

If you can not afford PACC for rl money then you should consider making 15bp HMMs and sell them on trade and buy premium pig.

Btw. PACC here costs more or less same as PACC on rl tibia and didn’t notice that Brazilian players have problems to buy it xD

It's actually cheaper in Tibia. If it was the same price as Tibia it would be better, but I think it could be slightly cheaper than tibia.

Regarding what you said, maybe if it was slightly more expensive for the sweedes it would be better for everyone:
1. Since it's too cheap for sweedes, they wouldn't mind paying a bit more.
2. While price remains the same for Polish who would feel it's fair.

++ win win

In the end it's about companies profit
The best price for a product is the maximum of what customers are willing to pay according to their pereceveide value. If it's too high, you lose sales because customers won't buy. If it's too cheap, yyou lose margin therefore lose profit. Pricing strategy is about finding the right spot where it hits the maximum possible margin without losing sales.

Prices of things will vary accros regions because the concept of expensive is different for each. This mean that a digital product that applies same pricing for all regions is potentially losing profit. I've seen all major companies use regional pricing, such as Blizzard, Steam, etc. Its very hard to argument against it other than the work so please instead of being toxic try to argument why you think it's a bad idea

Re: Regionalized pricing (premium is too expensive for some peop

Regionalized pricing for a massive online multiplayer roleplaying game, particularly in regions like Brazil and Poland, can be a beneficial strategy for various reasons:

Economic Accessibility: Brazil and Poland have different economic conditions compared to more developed countries. Regionalized pricing allows players from these regions to access the game at a price point that aligns with their respective purchasing power. This promotes inclusivity and encourages a diverse player base.

Market Penetration: By offering lower prices based on regional economic conditions, the game developer can tap into potentially untapped markets. This strategy can lead to a surge in player numbers, fostering a larger and more engaged player community.

Cultural Relevance: Different regions have varying cultural preferences and spending habits. Regionalized pricing acknowledges these differences and respects local players' spending behaviors, which can lead to better player satisfaction and retention.

Argument Against Regionalized Pricing:

While there are benefits to regionalized pricing, there are also potential downsides to consider:

Unfairness and Discontent: Global players may perceive regionalized pricing as unfair, especially if they're paying more than players from less affluent regions for the same content. This could lead to feelings of resentment and community divisions.

Complexity and Administration: Implementing and maintaining a regional pricing system can be complex and resource-intensive. It requires constant monitoring of economic conditions and currency exchange rates, which might divert resources from other important aspects of game development.

Revenue Inconsistency: Regionalized pricing can result in revenue inconsistencies, as the income from different regions might not be proportional to player engagement or resource allocation. This could affect the developer's ability to reinvest in the game's growth and improvement.

Negative Impact on Brand Image: If not executed carefully, regionalized pricing might unintentionally project a perception of the game being of lower quality in regions with lower prices. This could harm the game's overall brand image and affect potential player acquisition in other markets.

In conclusion, regionalized pricing for a popular online game like the one described has both advantages and disadvantages. Striking a balance between accessibility, fairness, and maintaining a healthy revenue stream is essential. The decision should be made after careful consideration of the potential impact on player relationships, revenue stability, and the overall game experience.
